TIETZSCH-TYLER, Daniel MAAIS MIAI -
Illustrator, specialising in archaeological/historical reconstruction drawings. If you want to know what life was really like in the past,
you need to look at reconstruction drawings. Even the most detailed description of postholes or stone ruins tells you little
compared to the way informed imagination can bring the whole scene to life. The almost photographic detail in Daniel Tietzsch-Tyler's
drawings makes you feel almost as though you were there. His website shows some samples, but you are likely to come across the
full-size drawings in the course of visiting sites or reading about them. Recent projects include St Brendan's medieval house, the Desmond castle in Newcastle West and the 19th century copper
mines in County Waterford. Current projects include Tintern Cistercian Abbey (Co. Wexford), Kilkenny Castle and Roscommon Castle.
